Housing and Financial Counseling   

Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Approved Agency - Thrive Virginia's program is approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  Each service is designed to assist our customers in achieving financial stability. 


We offer:


  • One-on-one counseling (In-Person or Virtually)
  • Group workshops (In-Person at various scheduled locations throughout our service area)

As a HUD-approved counseling agency, our Certified Counselor will work with you to:


  • Improve your understanding of financial concepts to take action and improve your financial well-being.
  • Eliminate debt to promote long-term financial freedom.
  • Develop real-life financial skills that empower you to become a financially responsible wealth-builder, homeowner, investor, and productive workforce member.
  • Use the Needs Versus Wants method to help you identify and avoid predatory lending and financial scams, build a positive credit score, and establish and maintain your financial well-being.
  • Educate first-time homebuyers on the homeownership process.

FDIC Money Smart Alliance - Thrive Virginia's program is a member of the FDIC Money Smart Alliance and uses the Money Smart for Adults curriculum to learn about:


  • Understanding the decisions you make about money
  • Managing your income
  • Creating and implementing a savings and spending plan
  • Using credit and borrowing money

  • Group workshops (In-Person at various scheduled locations throughout our service area)
